7 COMMANDMENTS FOR CLEAN EATING
What is clean eating? I know I asked that question when I began to see those word pop up on Facebook, as hashtags on Instagram, and in blog posts. Well, it’s pretty simple. Simply put, clean eating is eating whole, healthy foods. That’s it. No need to complicate it beyond that.
So, without further ado, here are 7 simple rules to help you start eating clean:
One of the first things is to eat real food… stuff that comes straight out of the ground or raised on a farm. If it doesn’t come straight from either one of those places, it most likely ain’t real.
Not yourself…well, you can, but that’s your deal. Eating naked means ditching the boxed and prepackaged foods. No more TV dinners, boxed lasagnas, or anything with a “flavor packet”.
Eat What You Can Pronounce
If it comes from a lab, odds are it isn’t all that good for you. Additives like high fructose corn syrup mess with your body’s ability to determine full vs. hungry, and you end up eating way more than you need to.
Certified organic foods are free from pesticides, hormones, and other chemicals present in what’s considered ‘normal’ foods. Choose organic when you can, your body with thank you for it.
Eat At Home
Most restaurant meals are stuffed with processed foods and sugars. Cooking your own meals allows you to put exactly what you want into your body. Plus, you have the added benefit of creating your own culinary masterpieces!
Eat plants… real plants, not that salad that’s 90% iceberg lettuce. Add things like spinach, kale, cabbage, broccoli, and other greens to your diet.
The best foods are those made with love. Enjoy the preparation and enjoy eating your creations. Don’t force yourself to eat something you don’t like just because it’s supposed to be ‘healthy’. There are plenty of clean eating foods and meals… find those you enjoy and bon appetit!
