Win The Day
Your intention every single morning is to go out and win the day. Sometimes you may not, yet don’t let that stop you from attacking the day with enthusiasm. Now, you may be asking, how do I do this? Well, dear readers, have no fear. Gary Vaynerchuk has some rules you can use to win the day.
- Rule #1 – Be Confident
The biggest problem today is twofold. On one side, people are confusing cockiness with confidence, and on the other people are lacking confidence. In a previous post, I talked about having the confidence to be you without asking for permission. Be you, be authentic, and be the best you can be.
- Rule #2 – Positive Vibes Only
Misery loves company. It can be difficult to blaze your own trail when you realize how alone you are. Most people like to complain about everything that’s wrong in their world because they know it’s the easiest way to draw a crowd. Ditch those people or, at a minimum, tune them out. When you emit positivity to the world around you, life is that much sweeter. Plus, you’ll attract others on a similar mission. That’s your tribe.
- Rule #3 – Strengths Over Weaknesses
Gary advises to triple down on what you’re good at. That’s where you build your expertise and credibility. You can always work on your weaknesses, but to win, always lead with your strengths.
- Rule #4 – Value Legacy Over Currency
At the end of the day you have to live with the decisions you made and the actions you took. Do you really want to reach your goal and realize you crossed some ethical boundary to get there? The best advice I’ve heard is “Don’t worry about your bank account. Worry about how many people will show up to your funeral.”
- Rule #5 – Hustle
In other words, do the fucking work. Nothing good comes easy and building a legacy takes time and effort. Do the work day in and day out. Work when you don’t feel like working. Be hustling while others are sleeping or partying. Then someday they’ll all ask you how you did it.
Forget Safety. Be Notorious. Destroy Your Reputation.
People will always have an idea of who you are, who you should be, and what you should be doing. Confound them and confuse them. Always be pushing your limits and your boundaries. Stretch your comfort zone daily.
Do these things and follow these rules and you’ll win the day, everyday.
